Almost 20 years into my teaching journey, and with Wolverine-type regenerative powers! Despite all of the adversities, and accomplishments of my long journey, each new horizon is my passion’s Phoenix.
Today the great American teacher is under constant pressure to learn, adapt and reassess as it always has, but faster! The modern American teacher must be seasoned in many new skill-sets that were unknown, or unnecessary to those that lay before us.
The proper temperament is still essential, but not enough. Effective teaching is synonymous to perpetual learning, and evolving into presenters and guides over the traditional lectures of yesterday.
Above all, the educator of the future must me tolerant. A mind open to lifestyles, political and religious leanings, and a willingness to consider alternative views prior to formulating any idea lays just at the next stop of our journey to influence and guide the young minds we have been entrusted to tilt.
